Xandra’s corner!

Animation: 8/10

That fanservice of Black Jack is unnecessary, especially the chains and stuff.

I thought it was unnecessary until I watched some of the episodes. I began to realize again. The chain represents the law. He’s tied with laws in that era and it can actually represents his maturity too. But if I have to point out why I gave 8 instead of 10, the character design of Black Jack should just maintain its originality. I mean by using Osamu Tezuka’s art style. It’s so weird to see Black Jack as someone who is handsome. >///////<

Plot: 10/10

This. I don’t think I have to explain this. I felt like it was a pretty good anime although it is different from the original Black Jack, as I mentioned before, maybe Pinoko is not there as a comedic relief. Then again, this is about Black Jack’s past and it should be somehow.... tragic. So, I’m not surprised at all .The best part for be is actually the intro and the ending where the original Black Jack’s voice actor begin to tell the story as if Black Jack is telling his story to Pinoko or someone else. Very creative, indeed. Aside from that, I like how it is very realistic because they raised up the problems in that era such as--Vietnam war, revolution, discrimination, riot, especially mentioning a lot of the real figures and even past events. Somehow you can feel the dark theme and it suits Black Jack so much. What else.... I guess everything is perfect and yes, this anime is pretty much anti-mainstream.

Character Development: 9/10

Obviously, Hazama Kuroo’s character development is well-written. I have to say that this is very obvious. I think one of the problem with this anime is... lack of communication between Maiko and Kuroo but then again, there is neither platonic and sexual attraction between them. I have to remind myself that this is a medical type of anime. Gosh, I’m shipping Maiko and Kuroo together. How can’t I? I got this picture below from the official website of Young Black Jack. I ship this after Jyapino (Black Jack x Pinoko). But despite of that, the character development is very good. I love the trios--Hazama, Yabu, Okamoto. I need their interaction moreeeeee. Time to do some fanfiction for this! *runs to FanFiction.Net and AO3*
